Bin it in Baildon is a new project delivered jointly by the Parish and District Councils. The aim of the project is to tackle the scourge of litter and dog fouling blighting many of Baildon's streets, pathways, parks and green spaces. Every year, it costs millions of pounds across the district to clear our streets of litter, most of which ends up in landfill, (a huge hole in the ground!). Much of this could easily be recycled, simply by putting it in your bag or pocket, and then in the domestic recycling bins. This would not only save the costs of collecting litter, but also the growing cost of tipping it.
We have been working with children from local primary schools to design colourful posters aimed at reminding people that dropping litter is an offence and promoting recycling. A selection of these posters was on display in Baildon Library until Friday 14 December. All residents were welcome to take a look, and to vote on those designs that were felt to be most effective in getting across the message of "Bin it in Baildon". The winning designs will be made into full colour posters, and placed in key locations ("grot spots" around the village that attract litter and dog fouling. Any feedback from residents on where the posters should go would be very useful!
Help make Baildon an even cleaner, brighter place to live.
